How chat works in Pixie Hollow, and how we keep it safe and friendly.

The safest choice

Chat by picking from a set list of words and phrases in a menu. You can't say anything that isn't on the list.

Accounts set to SpeedChat only can't type their own messages, and only see messages from other players that are SpeedChat phrases.

Type your own

Type your own messages using a dictionary of Pixie Hollow friendly words. Words that aren't in the dictionary are highlighted in red, and have to be changed before the message can be sent.

Chat is filtered and moderated. Even so, now and then a message might get through that some players find upsetting.

For parents

Making an account for your child? Turn on SpeedChat only when you register. You can change it at any time in account settings.

  • Turning SpeedChat only off needs the account's password, so keep it to yourself.
  • We email the account's address whenever the setting is turned on or off, so you'll know if it changes.
  • If your child presses “Ask for SpeedChat Plus” in the game, we'll email you a link to the setting. Nothing changes unless you turn SpeedChat only off.
  • Changes take effect the next time the game is opened.

We the Pixies Legacy is a fan project, so this isn't a full parental control system. Using your own email address and keeping the password safe is what keeps the setting in your hands.

Ways to chat

Whichever chat setting you have, there are three ways to send a message in Pixie Hollow.

Public Chat
Everyone nearby sees your message, in the meadow, house or shop you're in.
Whisper to One Friend
Only the friend you pick sees it.
Whisper to All Friends
All your friends who are playing see it.

Players set to SpeedChat only will only see your message if it's a SpeedChat phrase.

Staying safe

  • Never share personal information, like your real name, where you live, your school, your phone number or your email address.
  • Never tell anyone your password. Our staff will never ask you for it.
  • Be kind. Everyone in Pixie Hollow is here to have fun.
  • If someone is being unkind, click their fairy to open their profile, then press Report. A moderator will look into it. You can block them from there too.
